Privacy policy

Skikort is a map for choosing a ski resort. We don't ask who you are, we don't set cookies, and we don't run ads or tracking. This page explains the little that does happen with your data, and who else is involved.
Who is responsible
Skikort is run by Kinetiq s.r.o., Vorařská 2386/1, 143 00 Praha 4 – Modřany, Czech Republic, company ID (IČO) 29882575 (“we”). For anything about your data, write to hello@skikort.com. Full details are in the imprint.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you, today. You can use all of Skikort without an account, and there are no advertising tools on the site. We count visits in a privacy-friendly way, without cookies (see below).
Like every website, the servers that deliver the pages see technical information with each request: your IP address, the page asked for, the time, and your browser and device type. Here is who sees it and why.
Hosting: Cloudflare
Skikort is hosted on Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA). Cloudflare delivers the site and protects it from attacks, and processes the technical data above to do so. We use this on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a fast, secure site (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Cloudflare is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Counting visits: Cloudflare Web Analytics
To know which pages are used and how fast they load, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. A small script reports the page you’re on, where you came from (the referring site), your browser and device type, your country, and page load times. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, doesn’t fingerprint you and doesn’t keep your IP address, so we can’t identify you and don’t follow you across sites. We see only totals. We use this on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving Skikort (Article 6(1)(f)).
The map
To draw the map, your browser loads pieces of it (tiles) directly from these services, which therefore see your IP address and browser details:
| Service | What it provides | Run by |
|---|---|---|
| OpenFreeMap | Map style, place names, roads and borders | OpenFreeMap (open-source project) |
| Esri World Imagery | Satellite imagery | Esri, USA |
| AWS Terrain Tiles | Mountain heights for the 3D view | Amazon Web Services, USA (open data) |
They are needed to show the map (legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f)). We don’t send them anything else. Our fonts are served from skikort.com itself, and we plan to serve more of the map from our own hosting too, so fewer outside services are involved.
What stays on your device
Skikort remembers a few things in your browser’s local storage, so the site works the way you left it. This never leaves your device, isn’t sent to us, and isn’t a cookie. You can clear it at any time in your browser’s settings.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Favourites and resorts you’ve skied | Your shortlist and your “skied” marks |
| Light or dark theme | So the site opens in the theme you chose |
| Open tab, side panel, chosen resort in a tab, home airport | So you come back to where you were |
| Hidden welcome message, promos already seen | So we don’t show them again |
Links to partners
Some buttons take you to partners where you can book, such as ski holidays, lessons, rental, transfers, flights and hotels. When you click one, you leave Skikort. The partner may then set cookies or record that you came from us, so that we can be paid a commission if you book. What happens on their site is covered by their own privacy policy. We don’t receive your name, contact or payment details. Partners only report what’s needed to pay our commission, such as the date and value of a booking.
If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to answer you, and keep them as long as needed for that.
Accounts and paid features
Accounts, Pocket Guides and Skikort Plus are not live yet. Before they launch, we’ll update this policy to explain what an account stores, which services handle sign-in and payments, and how long we keep the data.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us for a copy of any personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive it in a portable format. Write to hello@skikort.com. You can also complain to a data protection authority, where you live or where we are based. In the Czech Republic that is the Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů).
Children
Skikort is not aimed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect data about them.
Changes
When this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top. For bigger changes, such as accounts launching, we’ll say so on the site.
